My name is Sebastian Sattler.

 

I am a senior lecturer (Akad. Rat a. Z.) at the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University, Germany and an associate member of the Pragmatic Health Ethics Research Unit at the Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal, Canada as well as the of the Center of Uncertainty Studies (CeUS) at Bielefeld University.

 

Recently, I served also as a research consultant at the King’s Centre for Military Ethics of the King's College London, UK and at the The Dougy Center – The National Center for Grieving Children & Families; in the Program “Listening and Led by Youth in Foster Care: Grief, Hope, and Transitions – The L.Y.G.H.T. Program”, USA.

I am a sociologist by training, while my interdisciplinary research concentrates on sociology and (social-)psychology. In particular, I focus on: medical sociology, perception and decision-making research, criminology, health ethics, moral psychology, survey methodology, statistical analysis, and theory linking the micro and the macro levels.

Thereby, I engage in the measurement and theory-driven explanation of behavior and attitudes to better understand phenomena such as health-related decisions, social influence, stigmatization, risk estimates, moral judgment, deviance and crime, and technological future trends.

My measurement efforts include both quantitative and qualitative methods, in which I utilize web-based and field experiments, interviews, and large-scale panel surveys (e.g., ENHANCE, U-COMPLY, or FAIRUSE).
